You will ride through the towering limestone peaks of Dong Van, cross the borderlands to witness Southeast Asia’s largest waterfall, and finally find tranquility gliding across the emerald waters of Ba Be Lake.

Day 1: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Dong Van (Approx. 135km)

  • Morning: Meet your Easy Rider in Ha Giang City. Start the ascent into the mountains, conquering Bac Sum Pass and stopping at Quan Ba Heaven Gate to view the iconic Twin Mountains.
  • Lunch: Stop for a local meal in Yen Minh.
  • Afternoon: Ride through the mesmerizing Karst Plateau. Tackle the famous Tham Ma Pass, visit the historic Hmong King’s Palace, and take in the dramatic rocky landscapes.
  • Evening: Arrive in Dong Van Ancient Town. Check into your homestay, enjoy a warm dinner, and explore the old quarter.

Day 2: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac – Bao Lac (Approx. 110km)

  • Morning: Prepare for the most awe-inspiring ride of the trip: Ma Pi Leng Pass. Stop at the viewpoints to marvel at the deep Tu San Canyon and the Nho Que River below.
  • Lunch: Enjoy lunch in the lively frontier town of Meo Vac.
  • Afternoon: Leave Ha Giang province and cross into Cao Bang. The landscape softens as you ride alongside pristine rivers and bamboo forests toward Bao Lac town.
  • Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in Bao Lac.

Day 3: Bao Lac – Khau Coc Cha Pass – Cao Bang City (Approx. 130km)

  • Morning: Challenge the legendary Khau Coc Cha Pass (the 14-tier pass). A short hike to the viewpoint offers a spectacular look at this zigzagging mountain road.
  • Lunch: Eat at a local restaurant along the route.
  • Afternoon: Continue the scenic ride through rural villages, observing the daily life of the Nung and Tay ethnic minorities, before arriving in Cao Bang City.
  • Evening: Check into your hotel/homestay in Cao Bang City and enjoy the local street food scene.

Day 4: Cao Bang City – Ban Gioc Waterfall – Nguom Ngao Cave – Cao Bang City (Approx. 170km)

  • Morning: Ride to the Chinese border to witness the spectacular Ban Gioc Waterfall. Take a bamboo raft close to the cascading water and feel the mist of Southeast Asia’s largest waterfall.
  • Lunch: Enjoy regional dishes near the waterfall.
  • Afternoon: Explore the nearby Nguom Ngao Cave (Tiger Cave), renowned for its massive, intricate stalactite and stalagmite formations. Ride back to Cao Bang City as the sun sets.
  • Evening: Second night in Cao Bang City to rest and recharge.

Day 5: Cao Bang City – Wind Pass – Ba Be National Park (Approx. 130km)

  • Morning: Leave the bustling city behind and ride through the winding mountain roads of the Wind Pass (Deo Gio) towards Bac Kan province.
  • Lunch: Stop for a meal in Cho Ra town before entering the national park.
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Ba Be Lake, Vietnam’s largest natural freshwater lake. Swap the motorbike for a relaxing boat trip across the tranquil waters. Visit the fairy pond (Ao Tien), Puong Cave, and gently drift past lush jungles.
  • Evening: Settle into a traditional Tay stilt-house homestay right by the lake in Pac Ngoi or Bo Lu village. Enjoy a peaceful family dinner.

Day 6: Ba Be Lake – Thai Nguyen – Hanoi (Approx. 230km by Limousine/Bus)

  • Morning: Wake up to the serene lake views. Enjoy breakfast and perhaps take a short walk around the village or a quick morning kayak session.
  • Late Morning: Say goodbye to your Easy Rider. Board a comfortable Limousine van or bus for the journey back to the capital.
  • Lunch: Stop along the highway in Thai Nguyen for lunch.
  • Afternoon: Arrive back in Hanoi’s Old Quarter around 16:00 – 17:00, marking the end of your epic Northeast expedition.
