Riding along the historic Ho Chi Minh Trail, you will transition from dense jungles and endless rice paddies to the towering limestone peaks of the Ha Giang Karst Plateau. Day 1: Phong Nha – The Historic Ho Chi Minh Trail – Pho Chau (Approx. 200km)

  • Morning: Meet your Easy Rider in Phong Nha. Hit the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, winding through pristine jungles and remote mountain passes.
  • Lunch: Stop at a roadside local restaurant.
  • Afternoon: Ride through endless rubber and tea plantations. Arrive in the quiet town of Pho Chau (Ha Tinh province) for the evening.
  • Evening: Check into a local hotel and enjoy a hearty dinner.

Day 2: Pho Chau – Tan Ky (Approx. 130km)

  • Morning: Continue north along the trail. Visit the historic Kilometer Zero (Km 0) monument in Tan Ky, marking the official starting point of the Ho Chi Minh Trail during the war.
  • Afternoon: Ride through the peaceful countryside of Nghe An, witnessing the authentic daily life of local farmers.
  • Evening: Stay overnight in Tan Ky town.

Day 3: Tan Ky – Pu Luong Nature Reserve (Approx. 160km)

  • Morning: Leave the lowlands and start ascending into the northern mountains. The air gets cooler and the scenery dramatically shifts.
  • Afternoon: Enter the breathtaking Pu Luong Nature Reserve, famous for its lush valleys, water wheels, and stunning terraced rice fields.
  • Evening: Settle into a beautiful stilt-house homestay overlooking the terraces. Enjoy traditional Thai ethnic cuisine.

Day 4: Pu Luong – Mai Chau – Phu Yen (Approx. 150km)

  • Morning: Ride through the idyllic Mai Chau valley. Tackle the winding mountain passes of Hoa Binh province.
  • Afternoon: Cross the massive Da River reservoir on a local ferry and navigate the sweeping mountain curves toward Phu Yen (Son La province).
  • Evening: Dinner and overnight stay in Phu Yen.

Day 5: Phu Yen – Yen Bai – Ha Giang City (Approx. 220km)

  • Morning: A long but incredibly scenic riding day. Transition from the Northwest mountains toward the Far North.
  • Afternoon: Follow the winding rivers and deep valleys. Watch the landscape gradually transform into massive karst formations as you approach the frontier.
  • Evening: Arrive in Ha Giang City, the official gateway to the Ha Giang Loop. Rest up for the challenging roads ahead.

Day 6: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Tham Ma Pass – Dong Van (Approx. 135km)

  • Morning: Kick off the Ha Giang Loop! Conquer Bac Sum Pass and stop at Quan Ba Heaven Gate for panoramic views of the Twin Mountains.
  • Afternoon: Ride the iconic, zig-zagging Tham Ma Pass. Explore the historic Hmong King’s Palace before arriving in Dong Van Ancient Town.
  • Evening: Enjoy a hot pot dinner and explore the lantern-lit old quarter of Dong Van.

Day 7: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River – Meo Vac (Approx. 50km)

  • Morning: Experience the highlight of the trip: Ma Pi Leng Pass. Stop at the viewpoints to marvel at the sheer drop of the Tu San Canyon.
  • Afternoon: Descend to the valley for an unforgettable boat trip on the emerald Nho Que River, surrounded by towering cliffs.
  • Evening: Spend the night at the Pa Vi Cultural Village in Meo Vac.

Day 8: Meo Vac – Mau Due – Ha Giang City (Approx. 150km)

  • Morning: Ride the spectacular, less-traveled “M-shaped” road through Mau Due. The landscape here is wild, desolate, and beautifully dramatic.
  • Afternoon: Navigate the final mountain passes and sweeping curves as you descend back to the lowlands.
  • 16:00 – 17:00: Arrive back in Ha Giang City. Celebrate the end of an incredible 8-day cross-country journey!
