🗺️ THE ITINERARY AT A GLANCE:
Day 1: Ninh Binh – Cuc Phuong National Park – Mai Chau (Approx. 150km)
- Morning: Meet your Easy Rider in Ninh Binh (Trang An/Tam Coc area). Leave the river valleys behind and ride towards the oldest national park in Vietnam, Cuc Phuong.
- Lunch: Stop for a local meal along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
- Afternoon: Ascend into the mountains of Hoa Binh province. The scenery transitions into lush, green valleys. Arrive in the idyllic Mai Chau Valley, home to the White Thai ethnic minority.
- Evening: Settle into a traditional stilt-house homestay, enjoy a family dinner, and perhaps experience some local bamboo dancing.
Day 2: Mai Chau – Da River Reservoir – Phu Yen (Approx. 140km)
- Morning: Ride out of the Mai Chau valley, tackling the winding mountain passes.
- Afternoon: Cross the massive Da River reservoir via a local ferry. The ride features sweeping mountain curves and authentic glimpses into rural life before arriving in Phu Yen (Son La province).
- Evening: Dinner and an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel in Phu Yen town.
Day 3: Phu Yen – Tuyen Quang – Ha Giang City (Approx. 220km)
- Morning: A long but incredibly scenic riding day. Transition from the Northwest mountains toward the Far North.
- Afternoon: Follow winding rivers and deep valleys, passing through Tuyen Quang province. Watch the landscape gradually transform into massive karst formations as you approach the frontier.
- Evening: Arrive in Ha Giang City, the official gateway to the Ha Giang Loop. Rest up in a local homestay to prepare for the challenging roads ahead.
Day 4: Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Tham Ma Pass – Dong Van (Approx. 135km)
- Morning: Kick off the Ha Giang Loop! Conquer the winding Bac Sum Pass and stop at Quan Ba Heaven Gate for panoramic views of the Twin Mountains (Nui Doi).
- Afternoon: Ride the iconic, zig-zagging Tham Ma Pass. Explore the historic Hmong King’s Palace (Dinh thu Vuong Chinh Duc) before arriving in Dong Van Ancient Town.
- Evening: Enjoy a traditional hot pot dinner and explore the lantern-lit old quarter of Dong Van.
Day 5: Dong Van – Lung Cu – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Meo Vac (Approx. 80km)
- Morning: Head to the Lung Cu Flag Tower, the northernmost point of Vietnam, offering sweeping views of the Chinese border.
- Afternoon: Experience the absolute highlight of the trip: Ma Pi Leng Pass. Stop at the viewpoints to marvel at the sheer drop of the Tu San Canyon. Descend to the valley for an unforgettable boat trip on the emerald Nho Que River.
- Evening: Spend the night at the Pa Vi Cultural Village in Meo Vac.
Day 6: Meo Vac – Mau Due – Ha Giang City (Approx. 150km)
- Morning: Ride the spectacular, less-traveled “M-shaped” road through Mau Due. The landscape here is wild, desolate, and beautifully dramatic.
- Lunch: Have a final mountain lunch in a local village along the route.
- Afternoon: Navigate the final sweeping curves and mountain passes as you descend back to the lowlands.
- 16:00 – 17:00: Arrive back in Ha Giang City. Celebrate the end of an incredible 6-day cross-country journey!
