Tour itinerary

Why choose between Vietnam’s two most spectacular northern destinations when you can ride through both? This epic 6-day, 5-night Easy Rider expedition takes you off the beaten path, connecting the misty, terraced hills of Sa Pa with the towering limestone peaks of the Ha Giang Karst Plateau.

📍 TOUR SUMMARY:

  • Duration: 6 Days / 5 Nights
  • Transportation: Motorbike (driven by an experienced Easy Rider)
  • Route: Sa Pa ➔ Bac Ha ➔ Hoang Su Phi ➔ Ha Giang City ➔ Dong Van ➔ Meo Vac ➔ Ha Giang City

🗺️ DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Sa Pa – Lao Cai City – Bac Ha (Approx. 100km)

  • Morning: Your Easy Rider picks you up at your hotel in Sa Pa. Begin the descent from the misty mountains down to Lao Cai City, located right on the border with China.
  • Lunch: Stop for a local lunch in Lao Cai.
  • Afternoon: Ride up winding mountain roads to the “White Plateau” of Bac Ha. If you travel on a weekend, you might catch the vibrant preparations for the famous Sunday ethnic market.
  • Evening: Check into a homestay in Bac Ha, enjoy a traditional dinner, and try the local corn wine.

Day 2: Bac Ha – Xin Man – Hoang Su Phi (Approx. 100km)

  • Morning: Leave Bac Ha and head towards the remote district of Xin Man. This stretch features rugged, less-traveled roads with raw, untouched scenery.
  • Lunch: Have lunch in a small local village along the way.
  • Afternoon: Enter Hoang Su Phi, a region famous for having some of the most breathtaking and steep terraced rice fields in Vietnam (recognized as a National Heritage site). Ride through these golden or green cascades depending on the season.
  • Evening: Stay overnight in a peaceful homestay nestled right in the middle of the Hoang Su Phi terraces.

Day 3: Hoang Su Phi – Ha Giang City – Quan Ba – Yen Minh (Approx. 160km)

  • Morning: Ride from Hoang Su Phi down to Ha Giang City, officially starting the legendary “Ha Giang Loop”.
  • Lunch: Enjoy lunch in Ha Giang City before heading up the winding Bac Sum Pass.
  • Afternoon: Reach Quan Ba Heaven Gate to admire the panoramic view of the Twin Mountains (Nui Doi). Continue riding through pristine pine forests to reach Yen Minh.
  • Evening: Dinner and overnight stay at a homestay or hotel in Yen Minh town.

Day 4: Yen Minh – Tham Ma Pass – Lung Cu – Dong Van (Approx. 100km)

  • Morning: Tackle the photogenic, zig-zagging Tham Ma Pass. Visit the Hmong King’s Palace (Dinh thu Vuong Chinh Duc) to learn about the history of the region’s former rulers.
  • Lunch: Stop for lunch near the palace or en route to the border.
  • Afternoon: Ride to the Lung Cu Flag Tower, the northernmost point of Vietnam, offering sweeping views of both Vietnam and China. Head to Dong Van in the late afternoon.
  • Evening: Check into Dong Van Ancient Town. Enjoy a hearty dinner and take a stroll through the nostalgic old quarter.

Day 5: Dong Van – Ma Pi Leng Pass – Nho Que River – Meo Vac (Approx. 50km)

  • Morning: Prepare for the crown jewel of the loop: Ma Pi Leng Pass. Ride along the edge of the cliffs, stopping at various viewpoints to marvel at the massive Tu San Canyon.
  • Lunch: Enjoy a meal in Meo Vac.
  • Afternoon: Descend to the valley floor for a relaxing boat trip on the Nho Que River. Gliding on the emerald water between the towering canyon walls is an unforgettable experience.
  • Evening: Spend the night at the Pa Vi Cultural Village in Meo Vac.

Day 6: Meo Vac – Mau Due – Ha Giang City (Approx. 150km)

  • Morning: Leave Meo Vac via the spectacular “M-shaped” road of Mau Due. The landscape here is dramatic, rocky, and beautifully desolate.
  • Lunch: Have a final mountain lunch in a local village like Yen Minh or Quan Ba.
