Arrive in Mai Chau – a peaceful valley inhabited by the Thai ethnic minority. Overnight in a traditional stilt house with a home-cooked dinner.
Day 2: Mai Chau → Phu Yen (160 km – 5 hours riding)
After breakfast in the stilt house, continue through the winding backroads of Moc Chau Plateau, known for its lush tea plantations and orchards. Cross the Da River by ferry, capturing the calm beauty of remote Vietnamese countryside. Arrive in the small town of Phu Yen and check in for the night.
Day 3: Phu Yen → Mu Cang Chai → Than Uyen (210 km – 7 hours riding)
Today is a highlight of the tour! Ride through Mu Cang Chai, home to Vietnam’s most stunning rice terraces. Pass through remote villages of colorful ethnic groups such as Hmong and Dzao. Wind through majestic mountain roads until you reach Than Uyen in the late afternoon.
Day 4: Than Uyen → Sapa (110 km – 4 hours riding)
Climb up the O Qui Ho Pass – the highest in Vietnam – with panoramic views of Mount Fansipan, the “Roof of Indochina.” The views of the tea-covered hills and misty mountains are surreal. Arrive in the cool mountain town of Sapa around noon. Spend the rest of the day exploring the market, café streets, or relaxing at the hotel.
Day 5: Sapa → Bac Ha (160 km – 5 hours riding)
Ride across the eastern edge of the Hoang Lien Son Range. Travel through less-touristed areas with peaceful rice valleys and isolated ethnic minority villages. Interact with local people in their traditional attire. Arrive in Bac Ha – known for its hill tribe markets and quiet charm – and stay overnight.
Day 6: Bac Ha → Ha Giang (190 km – 6 hours riding)
Ride more rugged and off-road terrain today. Stop at Hoang Su Phi, a UNESCO-recognized area of massive terraced rice fields. The landscapes are raw, highland, and unforgettable. After breaks for photos and coffee, continue into the capital of Ha Giang Province and check into a hotel.
Day 7: Ha Giang → Dong Van → Meo Vac (170 km – 5 hours riding)
One of the most scenic motorbike routes in Asia! Ride into the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, passing alien-like rock landscapes, deep valleys, and steep limestone cliffs. Visit the Hmong King’s Palace, then conquer Ma Pi Leng Pass – an epic serpentine road with jaw-dropping views. Reach Meo Vac by evening.
Day 8: Meo Vac → Quang Uyen (200 km – 6 hours riding)
Leave the Ha Giang region behind as you continue through narrow mountain lanes and quiet villages. Marvel at the rugged limestone formations and colorful local cultures along the way. Reach Quang Uyen – a peaceful town near Ban Gioc Waterfall – and stay overnight.
Day 9: Quang Uyen → Ban Gioc Waterfall → Cao Bang (180 km – 5 hours riding)
Today you’ll visit Ban Gioc Waterfall, the largest and most scenic in Vietnam, located on the border with China. Take time to relax, swim, or photograph the incredible multi-tiered cascades. In the afternoon, ride to Cao Bang for a comfortable stay.
Day 10: Cao Bang → Ba Be Lake (150 km – 4 hours riding)
Travel to Ba Be National Park. This route takes you through forested backroads and peaceful rural life. Upon arrival, explore Ba Be Lake by boat—Vietnam’s largest natural lake—gliding past limestone cliffs and caves. Overnight at a Tay ethnic stilt house by the lake.
Day 11: Ba Be Lake → Thac Ba Lake (160 km – 4 hours riding)
Ride south to Thac Ba Lake, a tranquil region dotted with thousands of forested islets. Stop at ATK Dinh Hoa, a former revolutionary base, and visit a Dzao ethnic minority village. Enjoy a homestay dinner and sleep at a traditional lakeside home.
Day 12: Thac Ba Lake → Hanoi (180 km – 6 hours riding)
Final day! Ride peaceful dyke roads, past riverbanks and farmland on your return to Hanoi. You’ll arrive by late afternoon, just before rush hour, ending an epic 12-day motorbike adventure through North Vietnam.
